Not every weekend needs a strategy. But if you're going to spend a few hours on the couch, you might as well spend them on something genuinely good. Here's what we'd put on this weekend.
The One You'll Finish in One Sitting
Baby Reindeer (Netflix)
A limited series about a struggling comedian who becomes the target of a stalker, based on the creator's own experience. Seven episodes, each about 30 minutes. It is uncomfortable and funny and devastating in equal measure, and Richard Gadd's performance is one of the best you'll see anywhere. It will stay with you for days. Clear your Saturday afternoon for this one.
Skip it if: The subject matter of stalking or abuse is too close right now. This one pulls no punches.
The Easy Weekend Watch
Ghosts (Paramount+)
An American couple inherits a crumbling mansion only to discover it's haunted by the ghosts of everyone who ever died on the property — a Revolutionary War soldier, a jazz singer, a 1990s finance bro, a scout leader. Warm ensemble comedy, very easy to watch, the kind of show that works for anyone. Four seasons available, all of them good.
Best for: Any group, any energy level, you want something light with zero stakes.
The One Worth the Commitment
The Americans (FX / Prime Video)
Two KGB agents living as an American couple in 1980s suburban Washington D.C. Six seasons, all of them excellent. One of the great slow-burn dramas — it takes its time building characters and then breaks your heart with them. If you're looking for a long-weekend project, this is the one. Start it now and you'll be three seasons deep by Sunday night.
Best for: People who liked Breaking Bad, anyone who likes character-driven drama, patient viewers.
Good weekend. Let us match something to your exact mood →
