Maya Rudolph plays a billionaire who discovers her husband's affair and has to rebuild her life. Warm, funny, easy to watch back-to-back. The kind of comedy that respects your intelligence without demanding too much of it. Good holiday weekend viewing — nothing too heavy, nothing too forgettable.
Best for: Afternoon viewing, any group, wants to laugh without committing to a plot.
The One Worth Staying Up For
Station Eleven (HBO/Max)
A limited series about the world twenty years after a flu pandemic wiped out most of humanity. Sounds grim. Is actually one of the most hopeful things television has made in years — about art, memory, and what makes life worth living. The structure jumps through time brilliantly. Ten episodes, self-contained, genuinely beautiful. Watch it this weekend.
Best for: Late night, someone who likes ambitious storytelling, not afraid of something that makes you feel things.
