The One Everyone Should See
Severance (Apple TV+)
If you haven't started this yet, clear your weekend. Employees at a biotech company undergo a procedure that separates their work memories from their personal ones — the version of you at work has no idea what happens outside the office, and vice versa. It's a sci-fi premise that becomes something much stranger and more human. Season 2 delivered one of the most talked-about finales in years. This is appointment television.
Best for: Anyone who's ever felt like a different person at work. People who like shows that genuinely surprise them.
The One That's Quietly Great
English Teacher (Hulu)
A half-hour comedy about a high school English teacher navigating students, parents, and colleagues in a Texas school. Smarter and funnier than it sounds — the kind of show that earns big laughs through character rather than jokes. If you liked Abbott Elementary, this is the next one.
Best for: Easy Friday night viewing, any group, wants to actually laugh.
The Wildcard
Evil (Paramount+)
A forensic psychologist, a seminary student, and a contractor investigate cases the Catholic Church deems potentially miraculous — or demonic. It sounds ridiculous. It is genuinely one of the most creative and unsettling shows on television. Smart, funny, scary, and completely committed to its own weirdness. Four seasons in and still swinging.
Skip it if: You scare easily or need everything to be explained by the end.
